Created to be an art print for my National Parks Company, this illustration captures the other-worldly feel of J-Tree Camping. I used the Milky Way, the bizarre Joshua Trees, and the reflected light from the campsite to create an effect of mystery and contemplation. I let loose with my drawing style on this one, contrasting blocky, jagged shapes against swirling lyrical lines to create a fun, dancing effect to the composition.
The following artwork is the preliminary, black and white version of my design that I created before proceeding to color. I used this drawing to develop the linear patterns that flow through the finished, color artwork.
