This artwork was commisioned by the band Robert Jon & the Wreck as a wraparound cover for a new CD and vinyl album cover. The album is named
"Last Light on the Highway."
The band supplied a snapshot they wanted me to use as a base image. As part of the band's lore, they had a story about when their van broke down on a remote road in Joshua National Park while traveling toward a gig. They wanted me to recreate the mystical feel of being stranded alone under the big sky late at night.
The following is an excerpt from Rolling Stone reviewing the album: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀
“Robert Jon & The Wreck's fifth album, Last Light on the Highway was released on May 8. Already a fifth album from the Orange County quintet Robert Jon & The Wreck ... in five years! This rhythm of release worthy of the years 1960-1970 is certainly no coincidence, as the sound of these two decades permeates the ten songs that make up the album. Robert Jon Burrison and his Wrecks continue their exploration of southern rock, along the lines of the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. And if the album opens with a winning hat-trick - “Oh Miss Carolina”, “Work It Out” and “Can't Stand It” - devilishly effective, you have to wait for the second half of opus to hear the monstrous riff of “Don't Let Me Go”, which leaves you speechless, before taking a little rest on the two ballads, then concluding with the bravery piece of the album: an impressive composition in two acts, between hovering folk and disheveled rock symphony.”
