Created for National Parks Company, this artwork was printed as a fine art giclée forty-eight inches wide.
I wanted this piece to reflect the sublime tranquility, grandeur, and spirituality of Yosemite Valley. I decided on a night scene featuring a colorful version of the Milky Way streaking through the sky. An unseen moon illuminates the rock features. In the black and white preliminary drawing, it’s easier to see the intricate patterns weave through the artwork. They add richness and depth to the final color illustration, best seen in the full-size print.
The following images show the preliminary black and white version of my design created before I proceeded to color. I used this drawing to develop the linear patterns that flow through the finished illustration.
