I created this artwork to be part of a series of prints for National Parks Company. For this illustration, I wanted to convey the grandeur of Glacier National Park. To achieve this, I composed the piece with a continuous "jutting up" of elements, creating an effect of power and loftiness. The pose of the Mountain Goat is that of a victor, with strong shoulders and head held high. My preliminary linework emphasizes the upward flow of the design, adding to the artwork's impact.
The following artwork shows the preliminary, black and white version of my design that I created before proceeding to color. I used this drawing to develop the linear patterns that flow through the finished artwork.
